Going to give this blogging thing a try. I've been told I think out loud. I guess that's true. I know it's easier for me to understand something that's put into words, and hearing them or seeing them allows me to organize my thoughts around them. I like writing because it gives me more ability to be precise with my words, I can examine them and change them before I put them before others.
I've heard that putting everything that goes in your mouth up for the world to see is a great way to add some control to what you eat, so that is one of my purposes here. I am on a journey, and the destination is a small pair of jeans. I don't expect I'll ever be a very small girl, but I'm more than 50 pounds smaller than I was at this time last year. I've got another 50 or more to go. I'll try to make it interesting, though.
My best ally in this journey is my lovely Schwinn road bike, Roadrunner. It saw me through over 700 miles of training this summer, getting ready for a United Cerebral Palsy fund-raising ride, Ride Without Limits. The ride was canceled but it was a great experience. Right now I'm training indoors on an Ascent magnetic trainer. Some times I envision myself pedaling furiously to outrun pizza or dessert.
I love food, cooking and eating, sharing recipes. I'm an omnivore but I spend a lot of time around vegans and vegetarians, so I'm learning ways to reduce the animal products I use in my food. It helps me avoid hydrogenated and saturated fats, and I avoid dairy products anyway.
I'm a game fanatic. Video games, puzzles, card games, dice games, board games, even the occasional RPG. I'll probably talk about some of that stuff too.
